Today I share some of the strategies and insight into our new media marketing platform at You Brand, Inc. This show runs a longer than usual (27 minutes) but hopefully it’s full of insight you can use for your own business and marketing.
I’ve shared bits and pieces about our new platform the last few weeks but now I wanted to be able to give a little more behind the scenes explanation. You can view our new platform at New Media Marketing Company.
Two things I should mention. We call this a platform instead of a new website for a real specific reason. One of the core strategies we believe at You Brand, Inc. is that in marketing today you should think and operate like a media company. This new platform is phase 1 of that for us. The second thing I wanted to mention is that I’ve often found that advertising agencies are terrible at taking their own advice. We no longer wanted to make that mistake.
While we are a hybrid advertising agency/business development firm we really wanted to lead by example. When we talk platform and new media marketing we wanted to be able to point to our website and our platforms as a shining example.
Thinking Like an Media Company
This is a bedrock of our strategy. Interruption advertising still is effective in certain channels but in the content game that isn’t going to be effective. A media organization is looking for eyeballs, readers, or viewers. They are looking to expand their reach so they can sell advertising or subscriptions. We are looking to grow and audience and awareness not to sell advertising but to convert in one of 2 ways.
First, to have our audience join us on one of our permission marketing channels. That way we can build a relationship and hopefully monetize the audience. Second, to create prospects and leads. The “advertising” on our site goes to our free consultation page (still needs ton of work). That’s our two main goals. Of course we have other goals such as increase engagement, lowering bounce rate (more on that in the show), and visit growth, etc.
